These first few weeks of the new year have been pretty relaxing ones for us. Kip is in his Jan term at school, which means he is only taking one class, and it's a relatively easy class (well, if easy exists at MIT, that is). He's been home by noon everyday, so in many ways we feel like we are still on Christmas break. We're taking full advantage of the times together, since we know the busy, busy days of the semester will soon be upon us.
Right now, we're spending the days playing with our little lady and enjoying watching her grow, organizing things around the house and creating a good system for the approaching busy season of life, and playing games and watching movies, to name a few. We're so blessed to be in this situation in life where we 1.) Get to spend to live in the same city, and 2.) Have free time to spend as a family. It hasn't always been that way. But now it is, and we are both thankful of the time and taking full advantage of it!
Here's a few pictures from the past few weeks:
Playing with Lucy in her room:
This is Lucy during her 10-month-old photo shoot. She was looking out the window at the snow
Lucy and her daddy went out to play in the snow. She's usually all smiles whenever she is with Daddy. We definitely have a Daddy's girl.
This is the 10-month-old photo shoot continued. She loved being out in the snow.
It wasn't terribly cold and had stopped snowing, so I briefly took her hat off to get a couple of shots that way. She loved it. The girl hates wearing hats!
The two of us together. I love this little lady.
This was the first time Lucy discovered how to open the dvd cabinet all by herself! We have a 5-minute video taken right after this of her destroying the cabinet and throwing all of the dvds on the floor. It is now one of her favorite things to do, and we will be babyproofing the cabinet soon!
Another one of her favorite things to do is "help" with the laundry. She mostly just loves the laundry baskets.
This is Kota and Lucy doing one of Kip's favorite things that they do. They are chasing a laser point - notice it on the wall a few inches above the gate. The cat was taking a nap or she would have been in on the action too!
I couldn't resist putting in this adorable picture of Kota and Snap lounging in front of the fire together!
Or this one of all three of our kids playing together in front of the fire. Lucy loves the dog and cat so much. Kota loves her too, as long as she still gets attention from us, and the cat tolerates her pretty well but tends to spend most of her days upstairs away from the reach of a crawling baby.
So this is just a little of how our days have been recently. I have to admit . . . It's been pretty great.
