This weekend was a busy and fun weekend for us. It started on friday night when we took the T into the Commons to watch Shakespeare in the Park. This is the 14th year that the Commonwealth play group has performed a Shakespearean play in the Boston Common and we had such a fun time enjoying the free performance. The players really were phenomenal and the play was a Comedy of Errors, which neither of us had seen before.
We arrived early and claimed our spot on the grass to enjoy our picnic dinner before the show began. We had a spread of cheeses, salami, bread, and roasted shrimp salad topped off with a dessert of chocolate covered strawberries.
Lucy was in a great mood the whole night, and charmed everyone around us with her intoxicating smile and adorable sunglasses.
This was the first time Kip and I have experienced a cultural event since she was born, and it was so much fun to take in the beauty of the arts. We loved introducing Lucy to our love of the theater as we sat on the grass under a bright moon and beautiful clouds in the oldest park in the nation. Truly spectacular!
The rest of the weekend of full of roaming the neighborhood yard sales, cleaning and organizing our house, dinner and games with a friend, and taking dinner to a family with a newborn preemie. It was busy and yet very relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable. The highlight was definitely the way we kicked the weekend off, though, and we are already looking forward to Shakespeare in the Park next summer!
